(빌립보서 1:3-11) 그리스도의 날

우리는 달력으로 같은 날을 사는 것 같지만 사람마다 다른 날을 삽니다. 어떤 이에게는 오늘이 연인과의 사귄지 첫날이고 어떤 사람에게는 1,000번째 기념일이기도 합니다. 또 어떤 이에게는 생일이고, 어떤 이에게 오늘은 결혼기념일이고, 어떤 이에게는 입사한지 10년째 되는 날일 수 있습니다. 이렇듯 우리가 사는 매일은 달력으로 볼 것이 아니라 자신을 기준으로 어떤 날인지를 보아야 하는 것입니다.

그리스도의 날도 그렇습니다. 그리스도의 날도 안식일도 주일도 객관적으로 어떤 날이 그리스도의 날이 아닙니다. 또 모든 사람이 함께 예수님께서 구름타고 오시는 날이 그리스도의 날이 아니라는 것입니다. 물론 그런 날이 언젠가는 있겠지만 그 날은 오고가는 모든 인생이 볼 수 있는 날이 아닙니다. 그러므로 그리스도의 날은 한 개인이 어떤 세계에 들어가는 날입니다. 마치 입학식 날과 같이.

달력으로 같은 날을 살아도 어떤 이들은 그리스도의 날을 살고 있고, 어떤 이들은 애굽에서 종살이한 이스라엘 민족처럼 세상의 가치관을 좇아서 죽지 못하니 억지로 살아가고 있기도 합니다. 그리스도의 날은 그렇게 객관적인 날이 아니라 하루하루를 사는 사람의 상태에 따라 그리스도의 날이 되기도 하고 지옥 같은 날이 되기도 하는 것에 관한 말씀입니다.

이 그리스도의 날은 안식의 날이라고 했습니다. 안식일이 아닙니다. 그러니까 특정한 요일과 시간이 안식일이라는 이야기가 아니라는 것입니다. 심령이 하나님께 안식이 되고 자신도 안식이 되는 세월을 사는 사람이 사는 날들이 바로 안식일이고 그리스도의 날이라는 것입니다. 그것이 아니라 특정한 요일이나 시간을 지키는 것이라고 하면 그것은 율법주의자일 뿐입니다.

사람이 안식하는 것은 어떤 것에 대하여 목적이 이루어졌을 때 안식합니다. 시험에 합격해야 공부하는 일이 안식에 들어가는 것이 그것입니다. 그러나 시험과 같은 사람의 일은 인생의 현상들의 일부고 조각들일 뿐입니다. 정작 사람이 그 존재의 목적, 삶의 의미가 이루어지지 않는다면 인생은 안식이 아닌 것입니다. 전쟁에 졌는데 전투에 이기면 뭐하겠습니까? 

사람이 하나님의 복음을 깨달아 자신의 삶의 목적을 알게 되어 그 목적대로 살게 되는 것은 하나님이 의도하신 진정한 착한 일이고, 그런 삶은 육신을 드려 사람을 섬김으로 하나님의 의를 나타내게 됩니다. 그 삶은 육신을 드려서 수고하니 안식이 없는 것 같으나, 실상은 그와 반대입니다. 운동선수가 운동하지 않고 벤치에 앉아 있는 것이 안식이 아니듯, 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 육신은 다 용도가 있는데 그 용도를 버리고 육신의 안락을 안식으로 여실 것이 아니기 때문입니다.

우리 인생은 철저히 소비재입니다. 이 소비재인 인생을 풍요하게 하는 것이 인생의 목적인양 살고, 그렇게 살기에 하나님께 육신의 문제를 기도하고 의지하며, 그렇게 하면 하나님께서 해결해주신다고 믿는 것을 믿음이라 여기는 것은 바보들의 삶입니다. 그것은 축구공을 사서 차지는 않고 모셔놓는 것과 같은 것입니다. 축구공은 발에 차이고 운동장에 뒹구는 것이 안식입니다. 그렇게 소비되는 것이 안식이고 평안인 것입니다. 그와 같이 사람의 육신도 하나님의 의를 표현하는 것이 안식이고 평안입니다. 그렇게 사는 것이 그리스도의 날들로 세월을 이기는 것이라는 것입니다.

Our life is thoroughly consumer goods. What comes to the day of Christ is that not only certain days of life are the day of Christ, but that day.
