(빌립보서 2:1-11) 예수의 이름에 무릎 꿇게 하시며…

바울사도는 빌립보서 2장을 시작하면서 빌립보 교회의 성도들에게 <그리스도 예수의 마음을 품으라>고 권면하였습니다. 바울사도가 말씀한 그리스도 예수의 마음은 다른 것이 아니라 십자가를 지신 마음입니다. 십자가를 진다는 것은 의인이 죄인을 위하여 죄인이 되어 육신을 드려 수고하고 희생하는 마음입니다. 그 마음이 있어야 나보다 남을 잣게 여길 뿐 아니라 복음을 전한 이를 기쁘게 하는 것이라고 했습니다.

빌립보의 성도들에게 복음을 전한 바울사도가 전한 복음과 같이 빌립보의 성도들이 그리스도 예수의 마음을 가질 때 기쁘다는 것은 이 복음의 근원인 하나님 또한 사람들이 하나님의 의도한대로 그리스도의 마음을 품은 사람이 되는 것을 기뻐하신다는 것이기도 합니다. 실제로 하나님께서는 하나님의 형상대로 지음 받은 모습 그대로의 아담을 보시고 심히 좋아하셨을 뿐 아니라 일을 마치시고 안식하셨다고 하셨습니다. 안식하셨다는 것은 뜻하신 바가 다 이루어졌다는 것입니다.

예수님께서 십자가에서 보이신 그리스도의 정체성은 사람들이 추구하는 것과는 완전히 반대의 것입니다. 사람들은 늘 세상에서 이긴 자가 되려 합니다. 돈 버는 일이든지 공부하는 일이든지 그 무엇이라도 남보다 더 나은 자리, 더 이긴 자리에 가는 것이 잘 되는 것이라고 생각합니다. 그래서 하나님께도 그렇게 잘 되게 해 달라고 기도합니다. 자기 기준으로 하나님께 영광을 돌리려 합니다. 그러나 십자가는 그것과는 전혀 다른 것입니다.

그런데 하나님께서는 앞서 이야기 한 것과 같이 사람들의 관점과는 다르게 사형수가 되어 십자가에 달리신 예수님을 온전한 그리스도로, 또한 아들로 기뻐하셨습니다. 그리고 그렇게 세상 기준으로 볼 때 죄인이요 사형수인 예수님의 모습과 죽음을 영광스럽게 하셨습니다. 그리고 그것은 거기서 그치지 않고 그 십자가의 도 앞에 세상의 모든 무릎을 꿇게 하셨다고 하셨습니다.

그리고 이것은 사람이라면 이 법 앞에 서면 그렇게 될 수밖에 없는 법입니다. 그래서 하늘 위에 있는 자나 땅 위에나 아래에 있는 그 어떤 사람이라도 이 법 앞에서는 다 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 예수님을 주로 시인하게 되어 있다는 것입니다. 그런데 사람들이 이것을 발견하지 못하는 것은 단 두 가지의 이유뿐입니다. 하나는 온전한 십자가를 보지 못함이고, 또 하나는 보는 사람의 마음이 돌짝밭과 같아서 제 아무리 온전한 십자가를 봐도 그 마음에 그리스도의 생명이 심기지 않는 것뿐입니다.

그러므로 온전한 신앙을 가진 사람이라면, 그리스도 예수의 마음을 가진 사람이라면 신앙이 연약한 사람, 하나님 앞에서 죄인과 같이 사는 사람들을 꾸짖듯, 또 훈계하듯 그리고 ‘예수 안 믿으면 지옥 가!’라는 겁박으로 대할 것이 아니라는 것입니다. 신앙이 어릴 뿐 아니라 죄 가운데 사는 사람들의 그 가치관을 가진 이가 스스로 자신을 돌이킬 수 있도록 육신을 드려 수고하고 섬기고 희생하는 삶을 살아내는 것이 그리스도의 마음을 가진 것입니다. 왜냐하면 예수님의 십자가가 바로 그것을 보이신 것이기 때문입니다.
