(빌립보서 2:12-18) 구원을 이루는 사람과 성경

사람들은 예수님을 믿는 것의 증거는 성경대로 사는 것이라고 생각합니다. ‘예수 믿는 사람들은 성경을 지키면서 산다.’는 것입니다. 그래서 교회에 가면 성경대로 착하게 살고, 또 십일조를 하고, 주일을 지키며, 기도하고 성경을 보는 것이라 생각합니다. 또한 서어경보고 기도하기 시작하므로 신앙생활이 시작되는 것이라 여깁니다. 즉 그렇게 하면 예수님을 믿는 것이 되는 것이라고 생각합니다.

하지만 바울사도는 다르게 말씀합니다. 방향이 반대라는 것입니다. 성경보고 기도하므로 예수 믿는 사람이 되는 것이 아니라, 예수 믿는 사람이 성경보고 기도하는 것이라는 것임을 분명히 하고 있습니다.

너희 안에서 행하시는 이는 하나님이시니 자기의 기쁘신 뜻을 위하여 너희로 소원을 두고 행하게 하시나니(빌 2:13)

하나님을 믿는다는 것은 하나님의 뜻이 한 사람의 심령 안에서 생명이 되어 그 생명이 육신으로 행하게 하는 것이라는 것입니다. 성경 또한 같습니다. 성경을 지켜서 하나님의 의에 이르는 것이 아닙니다. 하나님의 의가 사람 안에서 생명이 되어 그 의대로 사는 모습을 기록한 것이 성경입니다. 아브라함이 성경대로 살아서 하나님의 의에 이른 것이 아니라, 하나님의 의대로 산 아브라함의 이야기를 기록했더니 성경이 된 것이라는 것입니다.

실제로 우리가 읽고 있는 성경은 다 기록이 먼저 있었던 것이 아닙니다. 신약시대에는 구약성경이 있었다고 할 수 있을지 모르지만, 지금 우리가 읽고 있는 신약성경 역시 제자들이 본 예수님의 삶의 모습과 바울사도의 마음에 있는 것을 기록하였더니 성경이 된 것입니다. 즉 말씀이 육신이 되신 예수님 안에 있는 하나님의 의가 예수님으로 표현된 것이 먼저고, 바울사도와 여러 사도들 안에 있는 하나님의 의가 먼저 있고 그것을 기록한 것이 성경인 것입니다.

그러므로 성경을 읽고 예수님의 제자가 되고 예수님과 같이 되려고 한다면 성경에 기록된 것을 행동으로 지켜내는 것이 본질이 아니라는 것입니다. 성경은 결국 하나님의 의를 가진 사람의 삶을 문자로 기록하여 된 것이므로, 결국 하나님의 의가 생명의 본성이 된 사람의 삶을 기록하면 모두 성경과 같은 의미를 가진 기록이 될 것이기 때문입니다. 즉 성경은 하나님의 의를 가진 사람의 역사와 일기와 같은 것입니다.

제조현장에는 문서와 기록이라는 것이 있습니다. 문서는 업무의 표준이 되는 도면이나 작업표준과 같은 것입니다. 이것은 직원들의 업무 표준이고 제품의 규격입니다. 이것들은 업무 방식이 바뀌거나 제품이 개선되면 수정될 수 있는 문서입니다. 이와 다르게 ‘기록’이라는 것이 있습니다. 이것은 업무의 결과와 제품 제조과정에서의 특성을 측정한 값을 기록해 두는 문서를 말합니다. 이 기록은 절대로 수정하면 안 됩니다. 이것은 법적으로도 문제가 되는 것입니다. 성경은 기록이지 문서가 아니라는 것입니다.

앞선 예를 가지고 좀 더 설명해 본다면, 문서는 사람들이 자신들이 업무를 수행하는 기준으로 볼 때 더 합리적이다 싶은 방향으로 수정(개정)할 수 있습니다. 즉 자신의 의로 해석해도 됩니다. 하지만 기록은 자기가 볼 때 아무리 불합리해도 수정하면 안 됩니다. 측정한 치수가 규격을 벗어나 불합격이라고 나타낸다고 자기 맘대로 수정하면 안 되는 것입니다.

그와 같이 성경도 자기 기준으로 수정하면 안 되는 것입니다. 자기가 볼 때 비합리적이라고 자기 맘대로 수정하면 안 된다는 것입니다. 돼지고기는 먹고, 안식일은 다르게 지키면서 십일조는 곧이곧대로 내라고 하는 것과 같은 방식으로 성경을 보면 안 된다는 것입니다. 왜냐하면 성경은 하나님의 의가 육신으로 표현된 삶이 기록이기 때문입니다. 하나님의 의가 사람으로 행하게 하신 그 행함의 기록이 성경이기 때문입니다.

바울사도가 빌립보 교회의 성도들에게 말씀하시는 것, 하나님께서 빌립보 성도들 안에서 행하시는 기쁘신 뜻이 빌립보의 성도들을 행하게 하신다는 것, 그것은 아주 중요한 말씀입니다. 사람들은 구원을 이루기 위하여 행동으로 열심히 노력하지만 그것이 아니라고 말씀하고 있는 것이기 때문입니다. 그러므로 정말로 이 빌립보서를 제대로 읽었다면 구원을 받기 위해서, 또 스스로 받았다고 여기는 구원을 유지하기 위하여나 더 풍족하게 하기 위하여 노력하는 모든 것은 모두 구원을 모르는 것이라는 것입니다.

구원을 받았다는 것은 하나님의 기쁘신 뜻이 그 사람의 속사람이 되어, 그 속사람의 이끌림대로 살게 되는 것입니다. 그렇게 살았더니, 그렇게 사는 것을 기록으로 남겨서 보니 성경이 되었다는 것입니다. 지금도 같습니다. 자기 심령 안에 하나님의 의가 있어 그 의대로 사는 사람은 문득 돌아보는 자신의 삶이 너무나 성경과 같다는 것에 놀라고 하나님의 은혜에 감사하는 삶을 살게 됩니다. 당연히 성경이 의문스럽지 않을 것입니다. 자기 이야기가 의문스러울 수 없기 때문입니다. 

그러므로 하나님을 믿고서 자기 삶이 이렇지 않다면 그것은 그 안에 하나님의 기쁘신 뜻이 없는 것입니다. 그러니까 이루어낼 구원이 없는 것입니다. 성경이 의문스럽다면 구원이 없다는 것입니다. 또한 성경을 행동으로 지켜내면 하나님이 의롭게 여기시고 기뻐하신다고 여기면 그 또한 구원이 없는 것입니다. 하나님의 기쁘신 뜻이 행동으로 나타나는 것이 구원을 이루는 삶이지, 구원을 위하여 행하고 그 모습을 판단하시고 기뻐하시는 것이 아니라고 분명히 말씀하고 있기 때문입니다.

People think that the evidence of believing in Jesus is living the Bible. 'Those who believe in Jesus live by keeping the Bible.' So, I think that when I go to church, I live well in the Bible, pay tithing, keep Sunday, pray, and see the Bible. I also think that the life of faith starts because I start praying and seeing my sermon. In other words, I think that it is to believe in Jesus.

But the Apostle Paul speaks differently. The direction is opposite. It is clear from the Bible that prayer is not to be a believer in Jesus, but that believers are to pray in the Bible.

for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure (Phil. 2:13)

Believing in God means that God's will is life in one's heart and that the life is to be done in the flesh. The Bible is also the same. It is not to keep the Bible to the righteousness of God. It is Scripture that the righteousness of God is recorded in the life of man in his life. Abraham did not live to the righteousness of God according to the Bible, but recorded the story of Abraham living in the meditation of God, and it became the Bible.

Actually, the Bible that we are reading is not the first to be recorded. It may be said that the Old Testament was in the New Testament, but the New Testament which we are reading now also records the life of Jesus as seen by his disciples and what is in the heart of Paul's Apostle. In other words, the righteousness of God in Jesus, who is the body of the Word, is first expressed in Jesus, and the righteousness of God in the apostles and apostles is first and it is the Bible.

Therefore, if you read the Bible and become disciples of Jesus and become like Jesus, it is not the nature to keep what is written in the Bible by action. It is because the Bible eventually records the life of a man who has the righteousness of God, so that if the righteousness of God is the life of a person who has become the nature of life, it will be a record with the same meaning as the Bible. In other words, the Bible is like the history and diary of a person who has the righteousness of God.

On the manufacturing floor there are documents and records. A document is like a drawing or a work standard that is a standard in business. This is the work standard of the employees and the specifications of the products. These are documents that can be modified if the way of doing business changes or the product is improved. Otherwise, there is a record. This is a document that records the results of work and the measurements of the characteristics of the product during the manufacturing process. This record should never be modified. This is also a legal issue. The Bible is a document, not a document.

If we explain more with the previous example, the document can be modified (revised) in a way that makes it more reasonable when people see them as the basis for their work. You can interpret it as your own righteousness. However, no matter how irrational the record is, you should not modify it. You should not modify it yourself if you indicate that the measured dimensions are out of specification and fail.

Likewise, the Bible should not be modified on its own terms. It is irrational that you should not modify yourself as you see it. You should not look at the Bible in the same way that you eat pork, keep the Sabbath different, and pay tithing immediately. Because the Bible is the record of the life expressed in the flesh of God's righteousness. Because the righteousness of God is the Bible, which is the record of the works which were done by man.

It is very important that the Apostle Paul speaks to the saints of the Philippian Church, that the good will of God in the Philippians is to do the saints of Philippi. Because people are trying hard to act to achieve salvation, but they are saying that it is not. So, if you really read this Philippian book properly, all that is trying to make you more salvific, and to maintain the salvation that you claim to be, is that you do not know salvation.

Having been saved means that the good will of God will become the inner person of the person and live according to the inner person's guidance. When I lived like that, I left the record of living so that I became a Bible. It is the same now. There is God's righteousness in his own spirit, and the person who lives in his school will be surprised that his life is so biblical, and live a life of gratitude for God's grace. Of course the Bible will not be questionable. Because your story can not be questionable.

Therefore, if you believe in God and your life is not like this, then there is no God's good will in it. So there is no salvation to be accomplished. If the Bible is questionable, there is no salvation. Also, if you keep the Bible in action, you will not have salvation if you think that God is righteous and pleased. It is because God's good will is manifesting in action that it is a life of salvation, that it is done for salvation, judging its appearance, and not pleasing.
