(빌립보서 2:12-18) 세상에 생명의 말씀을 밝혀

사람들은 성경을 읽고 또 듣고서는 성경대로 살고, 세상의 빛과 같이 사는 것을 위하여 <노력>합니다. 그 노력은 참 힘든 것입니다. 그러나 무엇보다 문제는 그 노력으로 성공한 사람은 없다는 것입니다. 어떤 이야기인가 하면, 성경은 사람이 행위로서 하나님의 의를 이루려고 한다면 단 하나의 계명도 예외 없이 그리고 단 한 순간도 예외 없이 그렇게 살았고, 살고 있으며, 살아야 한다고 말씀하고 있습니다.

그럼에도 불구하고 하나님을 믿노라 하는 사람들은 여전히 성경대로 살아서 세상의 빛이 되려고 합니다. 그리고 무엇보다 그 이면, 그러니까 그렇게 세상의 빛이 되려는 마음의 본심은 세상에서 성공하여 세상의 사람들이 그 성공을 부러워하고, 그 성공이 어디로부터인지 물을 때에 ‘하나님을 믿었더니 이렇게 세상에서 성공하고 복락을 누린다.’고 말하는 것이 하나님께 영광을 돌리는 것이라고 이야기 하는 것이 세상의 빛이 되는 것이라고 여기고 있습니다.

생각해보면 그렇게 노력으로 세상의 빛이 되려고 하는 것은 빛이 스스로 등경 위로 올라가는 것과 같습니다. 가끔 세상에서 성공하기 위해서 노력하는 것에 하나님께서 도우심을 바랐는데 그 바람을 들으셨기에 하나님께서 높은 곳에 올리셨다고 말하기도 합니다. 하지만 성경을 바로 봐야 합니다. 빛을 등경 위에 올리는 것은 빛이 없는 세상 사람들이지 하나님이 아닙니다. 그리고 세상에서 성공하고자 하는 수고와 노력을 수월하게 도우시는 신은 눈에 보이는 것을 본질로 보는 신입니다. 하나님이 아니라는 것입니다.

바울사도도 예수님께서 말씀하신 소금과 빛의 비유와 같은 맥락의 말씀을 하고 있습니다. 그리스도의 마음을 품어 구원의 본질이 본성이 된 사람들이 구원을 이루어낼 때에 세상의 사람들(구원을 이루지 못한 이들)이 그 모습을 보고서 자기들 삶의 어두움을 밝히는 삶이라는 것을 깨닫고 빛으로 여긴다는 것입니다. 즉 구원을 이루며 사는 사람들을 보고 하나님을 알게 된다는 것입니다. 

그것은 구원을 이룬 이들의 삶이 세상의 어둠을 밝히는 사람들이고, 존재의 목적이라는 생명이 없는 세계에 생명을 밝히는 것입니다. 무엇보다 그것은 하나님께서 사람을 만드신 목적이 이루어지는 것이고, 그렇게 하나님의 의가 그 육신의 삶으로 나타났기에 하나님의 아들이 되는 것입니다. 이것이 유일한 하나님의 아들의 정체성입니다.

성경이 말씀하시는 빛 된 삶, 생명의 삶은 세상에서 성공하는 비법에 대한 것이 아닙니다. 세상 사람들이 다들 꿈꾸는 세상에서의 성공, 그것을 위해서 하나님을 잘 믿으면 된다는 것을 보여주는 것이 아니라는 것입니다. 하나님을 잘 믿고, 그 믿음을 보이기 위하여 육신으로 성경을 잘 지켜내면 그렇게 꿈꾸는 세상에서의 성공을 이룰 수 있다는 것을 보이는 것이 세상의 빛이 아니라는 것입니다.

생명의 말씀을 밝힌다는 것은 생명에 관한 빛을 낸다는 것입니다. 그것은 생명에 대하여 어두운 세상, 공간, 사람들에게 생명이 무엇인지를 보여준다는 것입니다. 컴퓨터에 대하여 모르면 컴맹, 즉 컴퓨터에 대하여 어두운 사람이라는 것이듯, 생명에 대하여 어두운 사람들에게 생명에 대하여 밝힌다는 것입니다.

사람들이 자기 나름으로 열심 살지만 결국 어느 시점이 되면 ‘왜 사는지?’라는 것에 대하여 의문을 가지게 됩니다. 그리고 그것에 대한 해답을 얻지 못합니다. 그래서 나름 유명하다는 불교의 중도 “인생은 무(無)”라고 말하고 죽는 것입니다. 이미 존재한 인생이 왜 아무 것도 없겠습니까? 존재한 의미를 자신이 발견하지 못한 것인데, 자기가 보지 못했다고 엄연히 실존한 삶을 무(nothing)라고 하는 것은 깨달음이 아니라 오만입니다.

그렇게 사람들이 자기 삶에 대한 어두움, 왜 사는지, 삶의 의미는 무엇인지 알지 못하는 어두움에 대하여 이 삶이 무엇을 위하여 존재하는지를 밝히는 것이 생명의 말씀을 밝히는 것입니다. 밝히는 그 자체가 생명이라는 것인데, 그것이 다름이 아니라 바로 구원을 이루는 그리스도의 본성으로 살아가는 것임을 바울사도가 말씀하고 있는 것입니다.

그렇게 그리스도의 본성으로 사는 삶을 삶의 목적을 알지 못하는 어두움에 거하는 사람들이 보면 그것이 참 하나님 아들의 삶이라는 것을 보게 되고, 그것을 본다는 것은 자기 삶의 목적도 알게 되는 것이기에 밝음이 되고, 그 밝음은 하나님이 살았다고 하시는, 생명이 있다는 것이라는 것을 알게 된다는 것입니다. 그리고 그것을 인정하고 알게 될 때 자신의 삶이 하나님이 흠 없는 삶으로 만드신 것이라는 것을 또한 알게 되는 것입니다. 

이것이 바로 예수 그리스도께서 십자가에서 보이신 것입니다. 구원을 이루기 위하여 육신을 드리고 수고하고 희생하는 것, 그것이 바로 십자가를 지는 것입니다. 어두운 이들을 위하여 빛을 가진 이가 스스로 몸을 태워 빛을 내는 촛불과 등잔과 같이 자기 육신을 드려서 그 빛을 내는 수고를 하는 종과 같이 섬기는 삶을 사는 죄인 같은 삶을 사는 것이 십자가를 지는 것입니다. 그리고 그것이 바로 구원을 받은 사람의 삶의 모습이고, 구원을 이루는 것입니다.

Above all, it is God's purpose to make man, so that the righteousness of God appears to be the life of the flesh, so that he becomes the Son of God. This is the only identity of the Son of God.

The light and life of the Bible is not about the secrets of success in the world. It is not that the people of the world show success in the world of dreaming, that they should trust God for that. It is not the light of the world that seems to show that we can succeed in such a dreaming world if we believe in God and keep the Bible well in the flesh to show our faith.

To say the word of life is to light about life. It is about the life, the dark world, the space, and showing people what life is. If you do not know about computers, you are telling people about life, about computers, as if they are dark people.

People are eager to live by themselves, but at some point they eventually have questions about why they live. And I do not get the answer to that. That is why Buddhism, which is famous, is dying to say, "Life is nothing." Why is there a life that already exists? This is what Jesus Christ showed on the cross. To fulfill the salvation is to give the flesh, to labor, and to sacrifice, that is to take the cross. For the dark, it is a cross to live a life like a sinner who lives with a light like a candle and a lamp that burns himself and carries his own body, like a servant who carries out his light. And it is the life of the saved person, and it is the salvation.
