(빌립보서 3:17-21) 그리스도 십자가의 원수

성경에는 원수에 관한 말씀이 많습니다. 대부분이 하나님의 생각과 다른 생각을 가진 것, 육신의 생각이 하나님께 원수가 된다고 하고 있습니다. 그런 중에 바울사도는 빌립보의 성도들에게 <그리스도 십자가의 원수>라는 것을 이야기 합니다. 바울사도는 그리스도 십자가와 원수인 사람들의 끝은 멸망이고, 그들의 신은 그들의 배며, 그들의 자랑은 부끄러움이고, 땅의 일을 생각하는 사람이라고 말씀하고 있습니다.

저희의 마침은 멸망이요 저희의 신은 배요 그 영광은 저희의 부끄러움에 있고 땅의 일을 생각하는 자라(빌 3:19)

우리는 여기서 어떤 것이 그리스도 십자가와 원수가 되는 것인지를 알 수 있습니다. 자신의 배를 채우는 것이 자기의 하나님인 사람, 땅의 일을 생각하는 사람이 바로 그리스도 십자가의 원수라는 것입니다. 재미있는 것은 일반적으로 성경에서 하나님과 신을 나타내는 영어 단어는 좀 다릅니다. 하나님은 대문자 God를 사용하고, 일반 신들은 소문자로 god이나 gods(복수)를 사용합니다. 그런데 여기서 자신 신은 배(belly, 육신의 배)가 신이라고 할 때 이 ‘신’을 ‘God’, 즉 하나님이라고 사용하고 있습니다.

사람이라는 존재의 신은 자기 배, 곧 육신의 일이나 세상의 기준에서 성공하는 것에 있는 것이 아니라 하나님의 의를 자기 삶의 본질로 순종하는 것입니다. 그것을 보이신 곳이 바로 십자가입니다. 예수님께서 십자가에서 인생이 무엇을 신으로, 하나님으로 알아야 하는지, 무엇을 생각하며 살아야 하는지를 보이셨다는 것입니다. 땅의 일이 아니라 하나님께서 자신을 만드신 목적, 곧 하늘의 뜻을 생각하고 그 하늘의 뜻이 자기에게 이루어지도록 순종하는 것을 생각해야 하는 것입니다. 그럴 때 비로소 존재의 신이신 여호와 하나님이 자신들의 신이 되는 것입니다.

그리스도의 십자가는 인생이 세상의 가치기준에서는 죄인이 되어 십자가에 처형되듯 죄인이 된다는 것을 보이신 것이고, 하나님이 뜻하신 것을 위하여 육신을 드려야 함을 보이신 것입니다. 육신은 목적이 아니라 도구이고 소비재라는 것을 보이신 것이 그리스도 십자가의 사건입니다. 그렇기 때문에 그 십자가의 도와 반대로 육신을 목적으로 알고 세상에서 성공하는 것을 하나님의 일이라고 생각하는 땅의 일을 생각하는 사람은 그리스도 십자가의 원수가 되는 것입니다.

십자가는 육신이란 유일하니 신이신 여호와 하나님께서 자신을 지으신 뜻이 무엇인지 보이신 것이기에 그 십자가를 보고서 세상의 기준으로 사형수가 된 예수님의 모습이 바로 자신의 모습이자 하나님 아들의 모습이라는 것을 보이신 것입니다. 그것을 믿는 자는 자기 배를 채우는 것이 아니라 자기 육신을 예수님께서 십자가에 육신을 드림과 같이 하나님의 의를 나타내는 것이 자기 육신을 소비하게 되는 것입니다. 

또한 십자가에 달리신 예수님은 세상의 가치 기준에서 의하여 죄인이 되신 분이십니다. 위로 올라가야 선하고 성공하는 것이라는 것이 세상의 기준이고, 그 기준에서 이겨야 하나님의 아들이 된다고 하는 것이 세상의 생각, 곧 땅의 생각입니다. 십자가의 도는 세상의 기준 앞에서는 언제나 죄인이 될 수밖에 없는 존재라는 것을 인정하는 것입니다. 그것을 생각하는 것이 십자가의 도를 아는 것입니다. 

그러므로 예수님께서 십자가에서 보이신 육신의 정체성, 우리 존재의 정체성, 세상의 가치기준과 우리와의 관계를 역으로 행하고 생각하여 하나님을 믿어서 세상에서 성공하고, 육신의 일이 잘 되는 것이 복을 받는 것이라고 여기는 모든 것이 바로 바울사도가 말씀하고 있는 <그리스도 십자가와 원수가 되는 것>인 것입니다.
